Müller-Thurgau

Müller-Thurgau, also called Rivaner in Austria, was bred in 1883 by Hermann Müller from Thurgau at Geisenheim; VIVC gives its parents as Riesling and Madeleine Royale. In 2020 Austria had 1,591 ha, down from 1,777 ha in 2015, most of it in Lower Austria (1,108 ha). It ripens early and gives mild, light white wines with a delicate floral and nutmeg aroma, meant to be drunk young.
