Muscat Ottonel

Muscat Ottonel, in Austria Muskat-Ottonel, was bred in France in 1839 by Moreau-Robert; VIVC gives its parents as Muscat d'Eisenstadt and Chasselas. Of its 334 ha in 2020, 239 ha — more than two thirds — are in Burgenland, mainly around Lake Neusiedl. It ripens early and has low acidity; the wines are soft and intensely floral, dry or off-dry, and around the lake also nobly sweet.
