Roter Veltliner

Roter Veltliner is an old variety with reddish berries that gives white wine; VIVC does not record its parentage and lists Italy as its country of origin, while in Austria it is regarded as a traditional local grape. It is a parent of Rotgipfler, Neuburger and Frühroter Veltliner. Of its 209 ha in 2020, 205 ha are in Lower Austria, especially on the Wagram and in the Kremstal and Kamptal. It is demanding in the vineyard and gives full-bodied, spicy white wines with nutty notes that age well.
