Scheurebe

Scheurebe is a German crossing of Riesling and Bukettrebe, bred by Georg Scheu at Alzey in 1916; in Austria it is also sold as Sämling 88. In 2020 it covered 328 ha, almost equally in Styria (141 ha) and Burgenland (139 ha). It is strongly aromatic, with notes of blackcurrant and pink grapefruit, and is made both dry and as nobly sweet wine, especially around Lake Neusiedl.
