St. Laurent

St. Laurent is a red variety related to the Pinot family: VIVC names Pinot Noir as one parent and gives France as its country of origin. It is itself a parent of Zweigelt. In 2020 Austria had 687 ha, split between Burgenland (336 ha) and Lower Austria (330 ha), where the Thermenregion is its best-known home. It is demanding in the vineyard and gives silky red wines with dark cherry and berry notes.
